Over half of UK businesses fall victim to cyber attacks
The utilities sector is under increasing threat from ransomware cyber attacks. More than half (53%) of IT decision makers in the sector admit that their business has been targeted by at least one cyber security attack over the last 12 months, according to new research from Veritas Technologies, a global leader in data protection, availability and insights.

The new cyber security label
In 2019, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) launched a new label for IoT devices to tell consumers that a particular product is safe against typical threats originating from the internet. Data researched by Trading Platforms UK indicates that the value of cryptocurrency hacks and thefts between 2019 and 2020 increased by 38.38% from $370.7m to $513m. Over the last five years, the value was highest in 2018 at $950m, an increase of 257.14% from $266 million in 2017.
