Robots speed up the production of COVID-19 tests
In the fight against the coronavirus, speed and close co-operation are required. This is why Senova, a German developer and manufacturer of rapid COVID-19 test systems for biomarkers, viruses and microorganisms, decided to use the robotics expertise of Omron to enhance its production process.
Incorporating cobots safely
Compact industrial robots are now available that can be cost-effectively integrated into even small production lines. Part of their appeal is that such robots can collaborate with a human operator to offload repetitive tasks that would otherwise tire the operator and lead to mistakes. The problem is that working in close proximity to a moving machine poses safety risks for humans. Rich Miron, Applications Engineer at Digi-Key Electronics, explain...
How nations invest in robotics research
The COVID-19 crisis has highlighted the important contribution that robots make to industry and to society. Robotics research funding programs (R&D) are vital to enable and further support these developments. IFR summarised national funding programs in the new ‘World Robotics R&D Programs’.
Drones help identify bird nesting habits in Helsinki
During the spring and summer of 2020, smart solution pilots will be carried out in the Urban Eco Island -project. In mid May, drone filming was tested in the identification of barnacle goose nesting habits in the Harakka island which is a typical nesting location for Helsinki’s barnacle goose strain.
