TQ-Systems is presenting the in-house developed and produced Medical-PC for the first time at the embedded world 2016. This is offered as a platform concept and can be adapted according to individual customer requirements. Customers profit from the TQ’s many years of experience as an E²MS and embedded manufacturer. The Medical-PC is a fanless Panel PC for the medical sector, particularly for use in operating rooms and hygienically sensitive areas.

It conforms to EN60601-1 and EN 60601-1-2 and is therefore suitable for use in an environment that is near to patients. Furthermore, it can be integrated into already-existing medical technology products. The Medical-PC combines a high-performance PC with an electricity-saving Intel Core mobile processor technology of the latest generation with a high-quality TFT display and touch screen in an all-in-one device with numerous upgrade options.

The requirements of the medical market can be optimally implemented with the module approach of the Medical-PC, comprised of carrier and COM Express. Furthermore, the option is available to individually fulfil customer-specific adaptation requirements.

The advantages for the customer are diverse: The processor can be contacted thermally directly to the housing. This not only ensures optimal heat distribution, but also high reliability of the technology and safety for the user. The requirements and regulations that are defined by the medical market can be quickly implemented by TQ and optimised on a customer-specific basis. In doing so, TQ is not bound to the product range of one supplier.

Growing product requirements can be responded to flexibly and cost-effectively through the modular approach. Another advantage of the modular approach is the improved EMC behavior, as only a low number of cables are required in the device. Through the many years of experience in BIOS programming, TQ is able to realise customer-specific requirements. The TQ carrier offers a flexible configuration for the mass memory, two independent SATA slots, 2.5” SSD Bay, M2 module slot with SATA, PCIe x4 interface for high-speed SATA-SSD devices.

With this solution, TQ is completely open to changes to system requirements. Furthermore, a standard PCI Express x16 slot is integrated in the carrier. Therefore, PCI Express cards (Gen3) can be inserted in future without a riser card. This way, restrictions can be prevented in the signal transmission and the system is equipped for future upgrade cards. The PCIe-to-PCI riser card is produced by TQ and has long-term availability.

The strategic obsolescence management of TQ already ensures the required long-term availability by customers during the development phase with the appropriate selection of components. In addition to components management, the strategic obsolescence management also offers the creation of obsolescence management plans and constant monitoring of electronic components.

All of these factors have flowed into the medical carriers developed by TQ-Systems. The flexibility due to the modular approach in electronics is also transferred to other areas. The option is available to vary the display size. The result of this is customer-specific Medical-PCs as ODM products, in order to be able to perfectly implement the requirements of the medical industry.
