New from Omron Electronic Components Europe is the G5RL-K-EL bistable relay. It is tailored to the high switch-on performance required in intelligent building automation systems and in the control of capacitive loads.

The new flat power relay - ideal for controlling fluorescent and LED lamps - has an innovative single contact structure as well as two coils (setting and reset coil), which makes it a highly competitive solution.

The new G5RL-K-EL self-sustaining 16A relay is IEC60669-1 approved and has a high inrush current carrying capacity of up to 255A, making it ideal for demanding switching environments with highly fluctuating loads. The device is also compatible with the international safety standard for electrical/electronic household appliances (IEC60335-1). The self-retaining design saves energy because no holding current is required to hold the relay.

The device is a contemporary addition to the company's popular G5RL relay family, explained Andries de Bruin, Senior European Product Marketing Manager at Omron: "Smart building systems can reduce the need to touch shared surfaces – an important safety measure when returning to work after COVID-19. That's why facility managers are increasingly relying on automatic lighting to increase safety and save energy. However, the highly fluctuating loads typical of these systems require special components. The new G5RL-K-EL is an intelligent solution to this increasing challenge."
