KIOXIA Europe has announced KIOXIA’s first E1.L form factor SSD built with BiCS FLASH generation 8 QLC flash memory. Amid the ever-growing demand for data – including data for AI – hyperscale data centres are increasingly adopting high-density designs to achieve greater storage capacity within limited server space.
The KIOXIA LD4 Series is designed for high-density 1U servers and read-intensive storage applications. KIOXIA LD4 Series drives are currently sampling to select customers.
Key features of the KIOXIA LD4 Series include:
- PCIe 5.0 (Gen 4 x4)(2), NVMe 2.0e specification compliant
- Support for Open Compute Project (OCP) data centre NVMe SSD specification v2.6
- Single-port design for hyperscale and data centre-class servers
- Available in 15.36TB and 30.72TB capacities, with validated architecture enabling capacities up to 122.88TB
Built with BiCS FLASH generation 8 QLC flash memory
“Data centre operators are under increasing pressure to fit more compute and storage into every rack without exceeding the limits of available power, cooling, and physical space,” said Paul Rowan, Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer at KIOXIA Europe GmbH. “The KIOXIA LD4 Series addresses the storage side of this challenge by combining the density advantages of the E1.L form factor with high-capacity BiCS FLASH generation 8 QLC 3D flash memory technology, helping hyperscale operators maximise storage capacity within their existing infrastructure.”
