SYSGO's real-time operating system and hypervisor PikeOS has achieved the highest-level Category A (Cat. A) of the space safety standard ECSS-E-ST-40.

With this level, reached as part of a customer project, SYSGO proves that PikeOS is fundamentally suitable for all safety-critical applications in space.

SYSGO now provides a certification kit that enables customers to build space applications based on PikeOS and the SPARC architecture (LEON4). Among others, this kit includes instructions and artifacts for certification. This allows safety-critical applications to be realised in which the protection of astronauts can be guaranteed. Together with its security certification according to Common Criteria at the very high EAL 5+ level in version 5.1.3, PikeOS thus offers all-around protection and is therefore the most secure operating system on the market for space applications. PikeOS' hypervisor functionality, which is also covered by the certification, enables the consolidation of systems so that mixed-critical systems can be built that save costs, space, energy, and weight. For example, flight control, gateway and monitoring can run in parallel, safely, and securely separated from each other in time and space. This and the restriction-free export make PikeOS an attractive solution for NewSpace and hence for commercial and classic space travel in general.

"We are proud to contribute to the safety in space by delivering the PikeOS technology with the highest safety certification level ECSS Cat. A. We want to provide our customers with the best possible foundation for their embedded space systems looking forward to enabling more space travels with astronauts on board", says Etienne Butery, CEO of SYSGO.
