Nexcom has introduced the world’s first PICMG 1.3 System Host Board-Express Computer (SHB). The PEAK 8920VL2 has dual LGA771 sockets and supports two 5100 Series Quad-Core or Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processors with 4 MB L2 cache and the Intel® Core™ micro architecture up to 2.33 GHz with 1333 MHz FSB. Featuring an Intel® 5000P Chipset + Intel® ESB2, the PEAK 8920VL2 delivers increased throughput with dual point-to-point system buses, faster memory for I/O bandwidth, and Fully Buffered DIMM (FB-DIMM) support.
Like all Nexcom Single Board computers the ultra-reliable PEAK 8920VL2 is manufactured to the highest possible levels and is compatible with a large number of industry-standard backplanes.

Benefits of PICMG 1.3
PICMG 1.3 regulates the PCI Express interconnection definition between the CPU board, the backplane, and other I/O ports. PICMG 1.3 defines the signals of the four connectors on the System Host Board for I/O and PCIe to support increased bandwidth, up to 4 GB/S in each direction for PCIe x16.

Eliminates Bottleneck – Generally the throughput of the system is limited to the bottleneck of the bandwidth. By discontinuing the support of the legacy ISA ports, it allows system to allocate more resources and support a higher bandwidth for PCIe ports. PICMG 1.3 supports new PCIe x16 interface, SATA, USB, LAN wake up on backplane to increase bandwidth and performance.

Increased Bandwidth -- As more sophisticated industrial applications demand higher performance computing platforms, the bandwidth of the system become vital to reliable computing solutions. To enjoy the maximum bandwidth of throughput, the complete system must utilize the latest parts and components.

Longer System Life Cycle – When compared with PICMG 1.0, the PICMG 1.3 greatly improved the bandwidth of the PC bus and is able to support additional I/O function, hence the system complied with PICMG 1.3 has a longer system life cycle.

Backplane Support List
NEXCOM provides various PICMG 1.3 compliant 4U and 6U backplanes to fit most of your project needs. The NBP 14111 and NBP 14210 support PCIe x16 and multiple PCI (PCI-x) slots, while NBP 20016 supports up to 16 PCI (PCI-X) slots. All backplanes are compliant with PICMG 1.3 for greater reliability and compatibility with product from other manufactures. See blow for available backplanes and type.
