Arcom has released a new entry level embedded Linux Development Kit to support its ultra low power PXA255 XScale based single board computers. The 400MHz VIPER and 200MHz VIPER-Lite are small footprint SBCs powered by the PXA255 ARM compatible RISC processor.

The CM-iGLX from Anders Electronics is an updated and performance-enhanced member of Anders Electronics’ compact and lightweight x86 Computer-on-Module (CoM), no larger than a credit card. Nearly four times smaller than competing nano-ITX boards, the CM-iGLX offers battery-powered operation yet can smoothly run Windows XP embedded as well as Linux and Windows CE.

DAB module combines low-cost and long battery life
Frontier Silicon has announced Venice 5, a low cost DAB module which offers one week’s worth of battery life, when typically DAB modules have lasted only one day. Measuring just 52mm x 40mm and based on its recently launched Kino 2 baseband processor, Venice 5 is designed for next generation DAB home audio products such as kitchen and clock radios, CD audio systems and hi-fi tuner systems.

Green Hills Software has announced that µ-velOSity is now available for Analog Devices’ Blackfin processors. With a ROM footprint as small as 2200 bytes, RAM footprint as small as 1000 bytes, and service call times as low as 30 cycles, µ-velOSity is ideal for the convergent applications in which Blackfin excels, including multi-format audio, video, voice and image processing, multi-mode baseband and packet processing, control processing and real-time security.

Triteq has announced that it has achieved ISO13485 quality registration for medical device design. Triteq claims to be the only design subcontractor in the UK to be certified to this standard by TUV and one of only a few design houses in the UK to hold ISO13485 quality management approval.

Arcom’s Extended Temperature IXP425 PC/104 SBC takes secure embedded communications into hostile environments
Arcom has released an extended temperature range version of their well established VULCAN PC/104 compatible single board computer. The VULCAN is based on the Intel 533MHz low power IXP425 XScale network processor, making it ideal for secure embedded communications systems. The extended temperature range of -40 to +85ºC permits deployment into remote unattended installations that can be subject to environmental extremes.
