National Semiconductor Reports Results for First Quarter Fiscal 2010

National Semiconductor Corp. today reported sales of $314 million and net income of $29.8 million, or 13 cents per diluted share, for the first quarter of fiscal 2010, which ended Aug. 30, 2009. National’s first quarter sales were 12 percent higher than sales in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009, when the company reported $281 million in sales, but lower than the $466 million reported in last year’s first fiscal quarter.

National Semiconductor Claims Industry’s Lowest-Noise Frequency Synthesizer

National Semiconductor has announced a low-noise, fully integrated frequency synthesizer. The PowerWise LMX2541 provides less than 2 milli-radians (mrad) root-mean-square noise at 2.1 GHz and 3.5 mrad RMS noise at 3.5 GHz, outperforming the nearest competitor by 10 dB in both in-band phase-locked loop (PLL) noise and spurious performance.
