Mirics Semiconductor has today expanded its FlexiTV technology by launching a range of mobile TV and radio applications targeted at products powered by the Intel Atom CPU platform. This latest innovation brings low-cost embedded mobile TV and radio functionality to ultra-portable and low power PC products such as netbooks and mobile internet devices (MIDs).

Mirics Semiconductor has appointed Jay Nunez as VP Americas and EMEA to spearhead the company’s commercial growth in these two mature and lucrative regions of the world. Nunez was previously VP North American Sales and Marketing for processor company Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), having originally served graphics chip specialist ATI Technologies as VP World Wide OEM Sales prior to its merger with AMD.

Further to the strategic partnership announced in December 2008 between Mirics Semiconductor and Spreadtrum Communications, the two companies today announce the availability of an embedded PCTV solution that supports the China Multimedia Mobile Broadcasting (CMMB) mobile digital TV standard.
