Ideal for the growing hearing-aid market, Molex's new Balanced Armature Audio Receivers provide up to 20% space savings and up to 75% versus dynamic receivers. The recievers also provide cleaner mid-range sound compared to dynamic-style receivers and substantially more sound output per unit size.

“Many people who need a hearing aid don’t pursue getting one because they think it will be a big, uncomfortable device,” says Anthony Kalaijakis, strategic medical market manager, Molex.  “By combining our precision manufacturing capabilities and audio business expertise, we provide audio OEMs with the ability to cost effectively design products half the size of traditional hearing aids yet with superior sound output and quality.”

OEMs are able to adjust the impedance or other specifications to meet specific requirements due to the recievers being customisable. Besides applications in hearing aids, balanced armatures can be used for Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management devices where they can also more efficiently transform energy into sound, helping to save or extend battery life. In addition to hearing aids, the technology is ideal for the premium in-ear earphone market where manufacturers are looking to design higher-performing, smaller and more attractively-designed earphones.
