Hirose launches floating connector

Hirose has introduced a board-to-board connector that combines floating functionality with a miniature size, tailored to meet automotive specifications.

The BM54 Series is notable for its compact design, achieving the smallest width in its class. This space-efficient automotive connector features a small form factor, a 0.4mm pitch, and a stacking height ranging from 3.0 to 4.5 mm.

The BM54 Series connector is ideal for PCBs with multiple connector sets, offering a wide floating range of ±0.4 mm in the XY direction. This floating capability absorbs board misalignment errors, simplifying assembly and enhancing work efficiency. Its two-point contact design ensures high contact reliability and robust performance in challenging automotive environments.

With a heat resistance of 125°C, the BM54 Series is suitable for use in both automotive and industrial equipment. It also supports PCI-ex Gen4 (16Gbps) and MIPI D-PHY Ver. 2.1, making it ideal for automotive front cameras, rear and side cameras, displays, millimetre wave radar, and LiDAR systems.
