Visitors to the Farnborough International Airshow this year will be able to see the acclaimed HALOSENSOR drill targeting system in action at the TT electronics Technology stand D14 in Hall1. The HALOSENSOR range can accurately locate blind holes even in complex or curved structures such as aircraft wing assemblies.
By eliminating the need for pilot holes to be drilled from the inside, a major cause of re-work or scrap is avoided.

“Demand for the drill targeting system has been such that we are now actively seeking additional distributors to cover selected territories”, said Richard Hughes, Business Manager at TT electronics Technology. “Although this is not our first Farnborough, we are particularly looking forward to showing HALOSENSOR this year to new aerospace customers, both civil and military.”

The rugged HALOSENSOR range includes the NANO devices that, being smaller, can cope with tighter radius curved surfaces or situations of limited access. The standard range can accurately locate blind holes from 2mm to 100mm, and can interface with a customer’s existing robotic manufacturing systems or be used manually. A custom design and manufacture service is available for even more specialised applications.

Aerospace manufacturers who have already adopted the system include: Bombardier, Embraer, Boeing, BAE Systems, EADS-CASA and Lockheed Martin. Since 2003, it has been used in the production of all Airbus aircraft.
