Raspberry Pi receives Green Economy Mark for sustainability efforts

Raspberry Pi has been recognised by the London Stock Exchange (LSE) with its Green Economy Mark, a designation awarded to companies generating at least 50% of their revenue from environmentally sustainable products and services.

The accolade coincided with Raspberry Pi’s successful listing on the exchange in 2024, underscoring the company’s focus on energy-efficient computing. By offering low-power devices used across homes, businesses, and industrial applications, Raspberry Pi has positioned itself as a contributor to a lower-carbon future.

The Green Economy Mark is a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to highlight businesses that are actively supporting the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon economy. As of 2024, companies awarded this distinction collectively represented a market capitalisation of £172.8 billion. Institutional investment in Green Economy Mark stocks has risen by 50% over the past five years, reflecting growing financial support for businesses driving sustainability.

Raspberry Pi’s achievement is a reflection of its broader sustainability strategy, which includes:

  • Energy-efficient computing – designing products that deliver high performance while consuming minimal power, helping to reduce energy usage
  • Product longevity – extending the lifespan of devices through durability and long-term software support, reducing electronic waste
  • Sustainable manufacturing – collaborating with manufacturing partners to improve efficiency and minimise waste in production
  • Enabling green innovation – supporting environmental initiatives through applications in smart energy management and eco-friendly IoT solutions
  • Lowering carbon emissions – optimising the supply chain and designing compact, low-power devices to reduce environmental impact
  • Carbon offsetting – introducing Raspberry Pi Carbon Removal Credits in 2025 to allow customers to offset emissions from the manufacture, shipping, and disposal of products

This recognition places Raspberry Pi among a growing group of businesses prioritising sustainability, reinforcing its role in the green technology sector.
