The opening keynote features Dr. Yasuko Kasai, a specialist in Earth and planetary observation and a senior researcher at the National Institute of Communications and Technology (NICT). Her speech will overview the Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE) project, which she is leading on behalf of NICT as a sub-mm wave instrument national project.
The European Space Agency plans to launch JUICE in 2022 and have a probe arrive near the planet in 2030. The probe will be equipped with technology for observing terahertz radiation that was developed by Dr. Kasai.
