Bourns releases latest shunt sensor

Bourns recently announced the release of the Riedon Model SSD-500A Series Shunt Sensor – Digital by Bourns with 500 Amps nominal current.

The extended electrical rating enables designers to use a supply voltage of 24V (15 mA typical), allowing them to meet high accuracy measurement requirements in a wider range of battery-related applications, which includes large-scale energy storage banks, renewable energy generation infrastructure, industrial motor drives, building automation systems, and EV charging stations.

The Model SSD-500A Series includes advanced digital DC shunt-based current sensors that deliver superior accuracy, stability, and electrical isolation in certain harsh industrial environments.

The series also features an internal 24-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) that offers plug-and-play simplicity, enabling designers to quickly add high-accuracy current measurement into new designs or retrofit existing ones.

These shunt-based sensors also help eliminate the need for periodic device calibrations while also contributing to more efficient use of power. Furthering their design flexibility, the Model SSD-500A Series is offered in RS-485 and CANbus interface options.
