Automotive ASFETs enhance airbag systems

Mouser Electronics is now shipping the BUK9Mx and BUK9Yx automotive ASFETs for airbag applications from Nexperia.

These are AEC-Q101-qualified application-specific MOSFETs (ASFETS) specifically designed and optimised for use in airbag systems.

They are the latest addition to a range ASFETs which Nexperia provides for battery isolation, motor control, hot-swap, and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) applications.

The ASFETs use Nexperia’s enhanced safe operating area (SOA) technology which has been tailored to provide exceptional transient linear mode performance, a key performance metric in airbag applications.

These devices provide space-saving efficiency (53% for LFPAK56, 84% for LFPAK33) compared to standard DPAK packages.

The Nexperia BUK9Mx and BUK9Yx ASFETs are suitable for 12V automotive systems for use as airbag squib voltage regulators.
