Hirose has announced the commercial availability of its high-voltage ZE150HV Series wire-to-board connector. Ideal for electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) powertrains, the connector features a 4.5mm pitch and supports 1000V AC/DC, 10A per pin, and operating temperatures up to 125°C.
Engineered to meet IEC 60664 standards (Pollution Degree 2, altitude 6,000m), the ZE150HV combines reliable electrical performance with mechanical stability. Made from heat-resistant, RoHS2-compliant materials, the connector delivers long-term reliability in harsh conditions, extending service life and reducing waste from damage or rework to support environmentally conscious designs.
Selected as a CES Innovation Awards 2026 Honoree within the Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility category, the ZE150HV Series offers three design innovations addressing critical challenges in high-voltage systems that enable safer, more reliable power connections in extreme environments.
- Traditionally, there is a standard distance required between pins of 6.8 mm to achieve 1000V. The ZE150HV Series features a patented design that reduces this required distance. By placing proprietary ribs between the contacts, Hirose has reduced the size of the connector to support miniaturization of powertrain and other high-voltage systems
- The ZE150HV terminal features a three-point contact structure that helps maintain stable electrical connections under vibration. The double-spring structure increases pressure, strengthening the contact force and stabilising the connection under severe vibration. This ensures a consistent electrical connection in environments prone to movement, such as near EV motors and inverters
- A robust housing and built-in connector position assurance (CPA) mechanism helps prevent incomplete mating. This reduces the risk of electrical arcing or exposure, especially important in high-voltage environments
“Built for next-generation high-voltage automotive systems, the award-winning ZE150HV Series combines a compact footprint with reliable high-voltage performance and clear visual installation guidance for fast, confident assembly,” said Pete Lais, Assistant Vice President of Product Management for Hirose Electric Americas. “Its space-saving design helps enable clean wire routing and versatile placement, even in tightly packed powertrain assemblies.”
