Toshiba Electronics Europe has expanded its standard digital isolator line-up with the DCL54xx01A series, comprising ten quad-channel devices that support data rates of up to 150Mbps and operate at temperatures up to 125°C. Target industrial automation applications include programmable logic controllers (PLCs), I/O interfaces, motor control, inverters and switching power supplies.

The DCL54xx01A series operates from 2.25 to 5.5V and provides an isolation voltage of 5000Vrms for one minute. Typical propagation delay is 10.9ns, while typical pulse-width distortion is 0.8ns. The devices are housed in an SOIC16-W package and operate from – 40°C to +125°C, making them suitable for industrial systems in high-temperature environments.

Industrial equipment using fast-switching power devices is often exposed to high levels of common-mode noise. To support signal integrity in these environments, the DCL54xx01A series uses Toshiba’s magnetic-coupling isolation technology and achieves typical common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of 150kV/μs.

The series is available in 4:0, 3:1 and 2:2 forward/reverse channel-direction configurations, providing flexibility for a wide range of isolated communication interfaces. Devices are also available with different default output states and enable-control options, allowing designers to select a device according to application requirements.

The new devices complement Toshiba’s DCL341x0B series of standard digital isolators, which are designed for mid-speed communication up to 25Mbps in compact SSOP16 packages. The expanded line-up gives designers additional options when selecting devices based on communication speed, operating temperature and package requirements.
