Diodes Incorporated has unveiled a new automotive-grade boost controller aimed at the growing market for high-resolution in-car displays, as semiconductor suppliers continue to compete for design wins in next-generation infotainment and instrumentation systems.

The AL3069Q, announced on 20th November in Plano, Texas, is a 60V boost controller designed for backlighting larger LED panels used in dashboards, infotainment consoles, and heads-up displays. The company said the device integrates four 80V current-sink channels, improved diagnostic functions, and a wide operating range intended to simplify design across vehicles using 12V, 24V, or 48V electrical architectures.

Diodes said the controller’s adaptive-boost voltage control supports input voltages from 4.5V to 60V, with an adjustable switching frequency between 100kHz and 1MHz. The four integrated current sinks offer ±0.5% matching, each supplying up to 250mA with a 400mA pulse capability, allowing manufacturers to support larger LED panels of up to 32 inches.

The device also incorporates extensive system-level protection functions, including cycle-by-cycle current limiting, programmable overvoltage protection, undervoltage lockout, overtemperature safeguards, and detection of LED, diode, and inductor faults. A dedicated indicator pin provides fault reporting.

The AL3069Q is available in TSSOP-16EP and U-QFN4040-16 packages, with pricing starting at $0.54 for quantities of 1,000. A non-automotive version, the AL3069, is also offered for industrial and commercial use.

Diodes, listed on Nasdaq and included in the Standard and Poor’s SmallCap 600 and Russell 3000 indices, supplies analogue and discrete semiconductor products across automotive, industrial, computing, and consumer markets. The company said the new controller reflects continued demand for higher-brightness, higher-resolution displays as carmakers upgrade interior electronics.
