Versinetic, the Birmingham-based electric vehicle charging design consultancy, is marking its fifth anniversary, highlighting a period of brisk expansion in global demand for smart charging systems.
The company was launched in 2020 as a spin-out from embedded electronics firm ByteSnap Design to capitalise on rising interest in scalable EV charging infrastructure. Its engineers had previously worked on technologies used for charging posts at the London 2012 Olympic Games, as well as the ViGiL project, which delivered the UK’s first fully integrated vehicle-to-grid system.
Versinetic has since developed a portfolio spanning hardware, software, and consultancy, built around its modular Charging Blox framework, which allows clients to configure components to accelerate development and curb costs. Its customers include automotive OEMs, international charging networks, charger manufacturers, and early-stage firms across the UK, EMEA, the Americas, and Australia.
Among the company’s more prominent technologies are LinkRay, a compact controller for on-site load management; SiteManager, a platform designed to optimise charging capacity without extensive grid reinforcement; and MantaRay, a communications controller board for charge points using Open Charge Alliance protocols. Versinetic also offers custom implementations of EVerest, an open-source software platform aimed at helping companies tailor their charging solutions while reducing development risks.
From its Longbridge headquarters, Versinetic has supported deployments ranging from a charging depot in Australia to subscription-free load-balancing systems with contactless payment integration for clients in Switzerland, the US, and the UK. It has also provided advanced software and hardware solutions to customers in the Netherlands and Britain.
Dunstan Power, Founder and Director of ByteSnap Design and Managing Director at Versinetic, said the company would maintain its focus on improving the efficiency and sustainability of EV charging. “Five years on, our mission remains the same, to make EV charging smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable,” he said. “Thanks to our team’s innovation, and collaboration with major players across the industry, Versinetic is helping accelerate the transition to cleaner transport around the world.”
