New precision DC Digital Current Sensor Series New precision DC Digital Current Sensor Series

Bourns has announced its SSD-1000A Digital Current Sensor Series. Highly integrated and compact, Bourns new shunt-based current sensors feature a current range from 100A to 1000A and offer exceptional accuracy, stability, and electrical isolation in a wide -40°C to +115°C operating temperature range.

These features are required in a broad range of applications, including battery management systems, renewable energy, motor drives, EV charging stations, and other designs that are required to operate in certain harsh environments.

The series’ 16-bit microcontroller unit (MCU) delivers ±0.1% full-scale accuracy that contributes to more efficient use of power. The internal 24-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) provides plug-and-play simplicity, helping to significantly streamline implementation. This enables engineers to quickly add high-accuracy current measurement into their latest designs or retrofit existing ones. There are two SSD-1000A series models: an RS-485 serial interface model, which can also be configured as MODBUS RTU, and a customisable CANbus model. To further help simplify circuit design, Bourns is also offering an internal 120ohm termination resistor as an optional feature with this new series.

The Bourns SSD-1000A Digital Current Sensor Series is available now and is RoHS compliant.
