Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. is a US-based manufacturer of semiconductors and passive electronic components, headquartered in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1962 by Dr Felix Zandman, the company has grown into one of the largest component suppliers in the world, serving sectors such as automotive, industrial, computing, consumer electronics, telecommunications, military, aerospace, and medical technology.

Vishay Intertechnology has launched a new range of high-reliability polymer capacitors designed for demanding military, aerospace, and space applications, as the US components manufacturer continues to expand its presence in the defence electronics sector.

The DLA 04051 series of vPolyTan surface-mount chip capacitors meets the latest specification of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), the US government’s primary military procurement and logistics arm. Vishay said they were aimed at power supplies, communications systems, radar, and other mission-critical applications.

The new capacitors deliver ultra-low equivalent series resistance (ESR) of just 25 mΩ—significantly lower than that of conventional tantalum capacitors—enabling greater efficiency and stability in high-performance systems. The range spans capacitance values from 4.7 μF to 680 μF, with voltage ratings from 2.5 V to 63 V.

Vishay said the capacitors have been tested for long-term reliability, including 2,000 hours of operation at 125°C. The capacitors also meet rigorous mechanical standards, offering shock resistance up to 500 g, vibration performance compliant with MIL-STD-202-204 Level D, and resilience to thermal shock in line with MIL-STD-202-107.

The DLA 04051 series is positioned as a second-source alternative to Yageo/Kemet products, a move that could appeal to defence and aerospace contractors seeking supply chain redundancy.

Samples and production quantities are available immediately, with standard lead times of 35 weeks.

Based in Malvern, Pennsylvania, Vishay Intertechnology is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and manufactures one of the industry’s largest portfolios of discrete semiconductors and passive components.
