KONIG, has won a 2025 Mexico Technology Award in the category of Emerging Technology for its KP400 3D Digital Packaging Solution. The award was presented during a special ceremony held at SMTA Guadalajara 2025, recognising in electronics manufacturing across Latin America.

The KP400 represents a new conformal coating technology – offering a revolutionary 3D digital packaging solution that combines precision, speed, and sustainability. Using picoliter-level droplet control and over 1,000 independently controlled nozzles, the KP400 deposits coating materials with 400dpi resolution and layer precision down to 15microns, making it ideal for protecting highly complex assemblies such as PCBAs, FPCs, and mini-LEDs.

“The KP400 brings a modern, software-driven approach to conformal coating, giving manufacturers greater control over their processes and better protection for today’s advanced electronic assemblies,” said Gavin Petersen, Business Development at KONIG. “Winning this award reinforces the value we’re bringing to customers with a smarter, more sustainable alternative to traditional spray or moulding methods.”

Unlike conventional coating systems that rely on masking, shielding, or multiple dispensing passes, the KP400 uses image recognition software to perform real-time mapping and single-pass board coverage. This not only eliminates extra steps but also reduces material waste by up to one-third. With integrated UV curing, the system delivers fully hardened coatings in-line – without the need for ovens or solvent-based processing.

Engineered for flexibility and uptime, the KP400 features a modular print head design for easy nozzle replacement, quick maintenance, and seamless integration into existing SMT lines. It supports solvent-free, UV-curable materials that offer thermal resistance, dielectric strength, and mechanical durability, – making it the perfect fit for high-reliability electronics in automotive, industrial, and consumer applications.

With its combination of digital precision, process automation, and sustainability, the KP400 is helping manufacturers redefine how they protect and produce next-generation electronics.
