Losses associated with power conversion are minimised by the power inductors’ core material, Liqualloy. Developed by ALPS, the Liqualloy material is an original magnetic amorphous alloy which can be used instead of ferrite and iron powder. After altering the composition of the Liqualloy material, the GLCLK and GLCLM series’ were manufactured using original powder compacting and molding technology. This process allows the inductors to provide three times the frequency of the company’s earlier products and support the use of switched mode power supplies with higher frequencies.
To achieve low height, electrodes of the power inductors are located on the base. Due to the electrodes’ base location, noise suppression components or other parts can be installed in close proximity to the power inductors, improving flexibility in end product design. The GLCLK series has a 2.5×2.0x1.0mm footprint, while the GLCLM series has a 2.5×2.0x1.2mm footprint. The devices address the demand for low power loss inductors which accommodate size and thickness reductions.
