Cost Effective Network Appliance with AMD Low-power T24 Processor

Today Lanner Electronics released a brand new desktop-sized network appliance, the FW-5330. Equipped with the latest AMD Embedded G-series APU, the FW-5330 is the next generation UTM and firewall appliance best suited for SOHO and SMB. The FW-5330 is fanless and features a desktop form factor, low-power AMD T24L processor, 2 or 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports, 2 USB ports and a 36W Power Adaptor with lock.

“The launch of the FW-5330 marks the first time that an AMD APU is used in Lanner’s network computing products” said Will Chen, Lanner’s Networked Computing General Manager.

“With the FW-5330, we aim to provide SOHO & SMB customers an energy and cost effective network appliance.”

To summarize, the FW-5330 features the AMD T24L processor (A50M chipset), up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, Realtek RTL 8111E network controller, type-II Compact Flash socket for storage, 2 or 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports and a 36W power adaptor with lock. Other I/O interfaces are two USB ports and one RJ-45 Cisco type console port.

“Many inquires were made about the FW-5330 at the 2012 Computex in Taipei” said Jesse Chiang, Lanner’s executive product planner, “and the planning for a wireless enabled version of the FW-5330 is currently in the works” added Jesse.
