Elan Digital’s Vub300 Usb Sd/Sdio Bridge Chip Drivers Now Released To Latest Linux Kernel

Elan Digital Systems announced that driver support for its VUB300 chip is now included in the Linux 2.6.40 kernel. This acceptance by the Linux Community follows extensive compliance and stability testing in order to meet the required rigorous quality standards.

The VUB300 provides a simple high-speed bridge between USB2.0 host and SD/SDIO devices. Designers who would like to add an SD/SDIO compliant host port to their systems via USB will find this device to be cost-effective and very easy to use.

A unique feature of the device is its ability to allow the original SDIO client device drivers to be used via a USB port on the host system greatly simplifying the design process and allowing virtually any client device to be used in existing system with no software changes. This flexibility is a key user benefit as for example new WiFi chipsets are regularly being introduced to the market.

The VUB300 is fully compliant with both USB2.0 and SD/SDIO Specification Version 2.0.

Packaged in a 6 x 6mm 36 pin QFN, the VUB300 is available immediately from Elan Digital Systems or authorized resellers.

A hardware Demonstration Kit for the VUB300 is also available, allowing fast and simple evaluation of the devices’ capabilities.
