ERIC demonstrates the leading automation, robotic and sensing work

A new robot, ERIC, developed by staff and researchers within the Department’s Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering (CUE), is showcasing the leading automation, robotic and sensing work being undertaken in the University.

ERIC – the Engaging Robotic Interactive Cell – is a multipurpose robotic outreach and demonstration cell designed to engage youth, public and businesses with the leading automation, robotic and sensing work being undertaken in the University.

Integrating advanced robotics technologies into manufacturing and supply chains is increasingly recognised as a key economic driver for the UK and the ERIC ell demonstrates the concepts behind Strathclyde research with partners including Spirit AeroSystems, National Nuclear Laboratory, KUKA Robotics UK, Silverwing NDT and Eddyfi.

ERIC was developed by Charles MacLeod, Gareth Pierce, Carmelo Mineo, Rahul Summan and Gordon Dobie from the Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering (CUE).
