Hamamatsu Photonics introduces UV-sensitive spectrometer

Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced a new UV-sensitive model in its “mini-spectrometer micro series”, named the C16767MA, notable for its high sensitivity to UV light.

This model has been designed and developed using Hamamatsu’s micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) technology and advanced opto-semiconductor manufacturing technology.

The C16767MA is capable of separating UV light in the range of 190 to 440 nanometres (a nanometre is one billionth of a metre) into multiple wavelengths, and then simultaneously measuring the light intensity at each wavelength. For instance, the C16767MA can be utilised in compact water quality monitors. When installed in rivers, lakes, or oceans, these monitors can inspect and analyse the content of various pollutants in water through absorption spectrophotometry.

The C16767MA also aids in designing and producing cost-effective water quality monitors, which can be installed easily in large numbers at numerous testing sites, enhancing the accuracy of water quality assessments across wide areas. With the expanded sales of the C16767MA, Hamamatsu Photonics aims to contribute to ensuring safer water and addressing climate change.

Sales of the C16767MA are set to commence on Wednesday, 15 November this year for both domestic and overseas manufacturers of environmental measurement instruments.
