Valpey Fisher Announces Ultra Small and Low Power Oscillator

Valpey Fisher Corporation introduces its latest product offering: the VFXO250, the industry’s small size oscillator which offers outstanding performance while consuming less power. The device delivers frequency stability of ±20ppm and is also available across the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C in a miniature 2.5 x 2.0 mm SMD package.

Introduced and showcased at European Microwave Week 2011 booth #143 in Manchester, United Kingdom, the VFXO250 offers output frequencies from 1 MHz to 50 MHz in the low-power CMOS output with supply voltages of 3.3V, 2.5V or 1.8V. Typical current consumption is as low as 7 mA and to minimize battery drain the device also has an output enable/disable option. RMS jitter from 12 kHz to 20 MHz is less than 1 ps. Its miniature size, 2.5 x 2.0 mm, allows for efficient use of board space and product designs expansion.

“State of the art communication designs in Europe have become more and more demanding, especially where low-jitter and low-power are needed in exceptionally small size packages” says Malcolm Lomer, European Business Manager for Valpey Fisher. “Valpey Fisher is meeting those demands with high performance, small form factor oscillators like the VFXO250.”
