Toshiba has released three ultrasounds in the Aplio i-series, the Aplio i700, Aplio i800, and Aplio i900. The company claims the new devices provide superior imaging, including deep and hard to penetrate regions such as the shoulder. The company’s “iBeam” technology is supposed to provide greater efficiency to the soundwaves, letting them penetrate deeper without losing as much definition as in previous systems.

There are other technologies, such as Intelligent Dynamic Micro-Slice that also work to improve the quality of the image in a variety of clinical situations. The i800 comes with advanced clinical applications and additional matrix transducers over the i700, including an ultra-high frequency (24 MHz) transducers for imaging shallow targets at high resolution. The i900 is targeted toward cardiovascular applications.

Toshiba has worked on improving ergonomics and optimising workflows within the software. “With the Aplio i-series, our customers have access to the high-quality imaging they rely on for confident diagnoses without sacrificing clinical efficiency or patient safety,” said Dan Skyba, director, Ultrasound Business Unit, Toshiba America Medical Systems, in a statement.

“By combining excellent image quality with brand new controls and ergonomic features in a real-time workflow, the Aplio i-series systems make ultrasound the go-to solution for musculoskeletal imaging, as well as for a wider array of imaging needs.”
