The tip itself has a spring coil design to reduce the impact it has on tissue it encounters, and because it’s made of platinum, it’s well seen under X-ray fluoroscopy. Additional radiopaque tags along the shaft of the device help in identifying its exact position.
Tip wire guide aids access to pancreatic and bile ducts
Cook Medical has released its new Acrobat 2 calibrated tip wire guide for navigating the pancreatic and bile ducts during cholangio-endoscopic procedures. The device has a 5.8 cm hydrophilic coated flexible tip that helps to move through difficult anatomy, while rotational rigidity allows it to offer a 1:1 ‘torqueability’ for precise control of the tip. Pushability is also improved by about a third compared with the previous model of the Acrobat.
