Tektronix today unveiled the compact WFM5200 waveform monitor and WVR5200 rasterizer to meet the needs of video content production, post production, and broadcast for affordable 3G-SDI monitoring capability that can be tailored to specific applications.
The world’s smallest full-featured waveform rasterizer and waveform monitor that can monitor up to four 3G-SDI signals simultaneously, the WFM/WVR5200 products are well suited for use in OB vans, studio control rooms, and post production houses doing editing, special effects and color correction. With software that can be tailored to specific applications, the new instruments meet the growing trend toward “fit for purpose” products that can easily be integrated into an existing system architecture.

“We often hear from production houses and broadcasters that they want Tektronix quality, 3G-SDI Performance and to be able to choose and pay for only the features they need,” said Eben Jenkins, general manager, Video Product Line, Tektronix. “To meet this need, we’re unbundling the performance of our advanced waveform monitors and rasterizers and offering a wide range of software options that can be tailored to the user’s application.”

Powerful Features, Compact Package
While the new WFM/WVR5200 products come in a compact package, they deliver the advanced capabilities required in modern production, post production and broadcast applications. Applications include multiple camera monitoring in mobile trucks and studio control rooms, content editing and special effects, color correction, and content quality control. Key features include:

• Simultaneous monitoring of up to four 3G-SDI cameras or signals for OB van and production studio applications
• Comprehensive set of color gamut monitoring features, including the award-winning, Tektronix-patented Spearhead and Luma Qualified Vector displays for color correction and grading applications
• 3G-SDI (Level A and Level B) upgradeable for future-proof - thanks to a software-only upgrade
• Closed captioning, subtitles, AFD decode/display and full ANC data support for quality control (QC) applications
• Loudness and true peaks measurements per ITU-R BS.1770-1 / 1771, EBU R 128, and ATSC RP A/85 recommendations
• Multi-rate color bar and pathological signal generation for basic installation and maintenance applications

WFM5200 waveform monitor weighs just over 3 lbs., the WVR5200 rasterizer weights less than 2 lbs. and both are under 6 inches deep.
