Spirent Communications today announced that its flagship test optimization product, Spirent iTest, has achieved ‘Ready for IBM Rational Software’ validation for its integrations with IBM Rational Quality Manager and IBM Rational Functional Tester. Spirent iTest, when used with Rational Quality Manager and Rational Functional Tester, reduces the challenges of developing and testing network equipment, as well as service provider and cloud-based IT infrastructure. Customers can execute iTest test cases from Rational Quality Manager. In addition, iTest users can rapidly create complex system tests which include automation created using Rational Functional Tester.

Michael Loria, vice president, IBM Rational Business Development said: “Using collaboration through integration, we're enabling our joint customers to address the unique technical and business requirements associated with validating and deploying IT equipment and infrastructures. Industry-leading partner solutions like Spirent iTest enable our joint customers to bring new products and services to market faster while increasing quality and test coverage.”

Spirent iTest, the industry’s leading network test optimization and orchestration software, enables testers and developers to develop and execute tests which verify the functionality, performance and behavior of a device or groups of devices. These tests can then be used to find, reproduce and resolve defects quickly. Spirent iTest customers experience greater test coverage, faster defect detection, shorter testing cycles, and smaller testing backlogs, resulting in faster time to market, improved profit margins, and enhanced customer service.

“Carrier networks and IT networks are becoming more dynamic due to ever-increasing software content, virtualization, and global pressure to innovate,” said Jeff Schmitz, vice president of Networks & Applications at Spirent. “Spirent iTest provides Rational’s customers with the ability to extend their existing software development and test processes to address hardware products such as network equipment and IT/cloud infrastructure, while Rational Quality Manager enables Spirent customers to integrate their network equipment test processes into their overall application management lifecycle.”
