The FRANK Source-Measure-Multiplex-Unit (SMMU) is said to bring to the laboratory and test-bench what a Scanner-Printer-FAX-Copier-Multifunction-Unit brought to the office. The SMMU-05 combines Voltage Source / Current Sink with Digital Multimeter (Voltage / Current / Resistance / Capacitance / Diode-Test) and Multiplexer for up to 128 Test-Points and many additional functions.
The integrated multiplexer (up to 128 connection points) comprises solid state relays / analog switches and provides a flexible matrix with 6-wire-Kelvin connection for measurement and stimulation of the device under test. The auxilliary matrix enables external sources and measurement devices to be programmatically connected to the DUT.

In addition there is a Quit-Input, OK-Output and 8 to 64 SPS/24 Volts compatible digital In- and Outputs for integration into the production environment and to control external actuators.
The SMMU is controlled from PC or SPS via RS232 or US. The interactive user interface consists of a number of virtual instrumens.

The IDE (integrated development environment) is closely integrated with VBA/Excel and enables the creation of complex test procedures. Drivers are available as COM and OCX components and for LabView®. The optional PAC (Programable Automation Controller) enables the execution of complex test sequences in BASIC language without the need for a PC and with data storage on a SD-card.
The device is available in a compact desktop case or as a 19’in compatible board level product
and is therefore suited as a base component in building custom test systems.
