This approach extends the value-added phase of a product and thus makes development more economically sustainable, but often also somewhat slower and more expensive; this is where the SaLTShaker development platform comes in.
As a rapid prototyping system, it can be expanded with a variety of modules from the areas of measurement technology, digital I/O, drives, communication, and HMI. A product idea can thus be implemented quickly in the first phase, and long-term availability is already planned for. In a second phase, the SaLTShaker prototype can be transferred in a targeted manner into an optimised, customer-specific design that is also suitable for production periods of 10-15 years.
Both the open-source real-time operating system RTEMS and a customized Linux are available for the platform.
