The use of Ethernet technologies in vehicles has been intensively discussed for years in the automotive industry. BroadR-Reach technology is a cost-effective solution for high-speed data transfer. To address the test requirements during interrogation,Rohde & Schwarz is offering a new compliance test software option for the powerful R&S RTO oscilloscope.

In line with the OPEN Alliance test specification, the new test software enables users to perform automated tests on BroadR Reach Ethernet interfaces. BroadR Reach technology makes it possible to combine multiple applications such as video streaming from rear view cameras and signal transmission from automotive radar systems to create a single, open and scalable Ethernet network inside the vehicle.

The R&S RTO features an outstanding dynamic range of more than seven effective bits (ENOB) and delivers reliable results even during standard-specified interference tests. Users can reliably test their products during type testing and in production. The signal quality of the BroadR-Reach Ethernet interfaces can be verified using output drop tests, for example, allowing users to test the signal characteristics of the BroadR-Reach telegram.

The test software includes image-based instructions, which provide step-by-step support during measurements. Configurations are created automatically, and results are documented in a straightforward test report.
