Test options proliferate at Automotive Test Expo
A solution for testing automatic in vehicle emergency call systems will be a highlight on Rohde & Schwarz’s stand at the Automotive Testing Expo in Stuttgart (June 16-18). Based on an EU decision, eCall will be mandatory in all new car models from April 2018. ERA-Glonass, which is the Russian equivalent, was launched in spring 2015.
The eCall/ERA-Glonass conformance test system from Rohde & Schwarz is a reliable solution for standard-compliant tests of the mobile radio and GNSS-capable components of these in-vehicle systems (IVS). The setup, which consists of the R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication tester with the R&S CMW-KA094/KA095 application software and the GNSS-capable R&S SMBV100A vector signal generator, makes it possible to test whether an IVS modem can successfully make an emergency 112 call and establish a connection with the public safety answering point.
Modern infotainment systems that combine car radio, navigation system, hands-free equipment, mobile Internet and other features have increased the number of transmitters and receivers inside cars and their complexity.
Signals for cellular standards such as LTE, non-cellular signals such as WLAN and Bluetooth as well as broadcasting signals must not interfere with each other. For the simulation of diversity reception, particularly in the case of broadcast signals, Rohde & Schwarz will present its R&S BTC broadcast test center.
Using two independent real-time signal paths and up to eight arbitrary waveform generators, the R&S BTC generates all of the required RF signals for international TV and broadcast standards, including the relevant interferer signals.
For driver assistance systems, Rohde & Schwarz will be presenting its test solution for the development and production of automotive radar sensors. It has been upgraded with several new features.
The turnkey ARTS radar target simulator from ITS and miro-sys now features a reduced simulated minimum distance of 6m and an increased bandwidth of 1GHz. As a result, it offers ideal characteristics for testing autonomous emergency braking (AEB) systems or blind spot detection, for example.
In addition, the real-time interface for hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) simulators can reproducibly play back test scenarios from the field in the lab in line with Euro NCAP standards, reducing development costs and time to market.
The perfect addition to ARTS is the R&S FSW high-end signal and spectrum analyser with its R&S FSW-K60C analysis option for FMCW chirp signals. Its optional analysis bandwidth of up to 2 GHz makes it possible to demodulate and thoroughly analyse even extremely broadband signals.
The R&S TS-ITS100 RF conformance test system is a fully automated test system for IEEE 802.11p. The system is specifically tailored to standard-compliant component testing for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) applications and intelligent transport systems.
What is new is that realistic scenarios can now be reproduced on the R&S TS-ITS100 using IEEE 802.11p measurement data from the field to perform time and cost-saving tests in the lab. The R&S TSMW drive test scanner captures the data during drive tests, while an R&S IQR data recorder records the data and plays it back in the lab.
Using the R&S Contest sequencer software, the test system makes it possible to verify compliance with regional standards such as ETSI EN 302 571 in the EU, IEEE 802.11-2012 in the USA or ARIB in Japan. It also covers the specific performance tests used in the automotive industry.
For the automotive industry, Rohde & Schwarz also offers a series of custom solutions for its R&S RTM, R&S RTE and R&S RTO oscilloscopes. Triggering and decoding options are available for design verification, putting into operation and debugging of automotive buses, e.g. for the LIN, CAN, CAN-FD (CAN Flexible Data) and FlexRayTM protocols.
For compliance testing of automotive Ethernet interfaces, a compliance test option for BroadR Reach on the R&S RTO provides automated tests in line with the OPEN Alliance SIG standard as well as extensive test reports.
