productronica: ATE system incorporates Virginia Panel interface

Aeroflex strengthened its offering in the ATE market by launching its first system to include the Virginia Panel interface an industry standard used by test fixture manufacturers. The 5860 Multi-Strategy Test System, which was launched at the productronica exhibition, is a self-contained, floor-standing system that combines both analogue in-circuit test and functional test capabilities.

The system also allows integration of PXI and PXIe instruments. It features open hardware and software for maximum flexibility.

Then open hardware allows a configurable chassis and interface styles from low-cost analogue in circuit testing to high integrity analogue and digital functional test systems.

An integrated 21-slot PXI-based backplane enables the user to test systems based on Aeroflex’s PXI instruments or any other PXI instrument supplier. The system comes in three body styles – floor standing, bench top and rack mount. Each body style contains the common core of 21-slot rack, power and utility cards.

The system is SMEMA (Surface Mount Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (SMEMA) compliant and has a footprint of 900mm depth by 600mm width.
