Caltest Instruments is now able to offer a comprehensive harmonics and flicker test package that is suitable both for EMC test labs and companies that wish to verify compliance with CE requirements prior to submitting their products for certification.
The Pacific Power Source (PPS) EMC AC Immunity Option is a complete software solution providing ready-to-run AC immunity test schedules conforming to a number of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) test standards, specifically:

-IEC 61000-4-11

-IEC 61000-4-13

-IEC 61000-4-13

-IEC 61000-4-27

-IEC 61000-4-28

-IEC 61000-4-34

The test schedules are compatible with the existing PPS UPC Test Manager software and can be executed via GPIB or RS232 connections using PPS AMX, ASX or MS Series AC power supplies. The IEC 61000-4-13 inter-harmonics test also requires a 3 phase asynchronous signal generator, which can be supplied as an additional component if necessary.

For verifying the output of a device-under-test, engineers can now turn to the award winning PPA5500 Power Analyser series from Newtons4th (N4L). This powerful and versatile instrument has recently been certified by the National Physical Laboratory as suitable for harmonics and flicker compliance testing in accordance with a number of additional IEC test standards, including:

-IEC 61000-3-2

-IEC 61000-3-3

-IEC 61000-4-7

-IEC 61000-4-15

David Sheath, General Manager at Caltest, said:

“It is timely that two of our most popular manufacturers should choose to address the issue of electromagnetic compatibility testing at the same moment, each covering one of the essential areas required for CE compliance.

“In addition to offering all the relevant instruments and software as separate components, we will also be developing a ‘one rack solution’ for harmonics and flicker testing, utilising a suitable Pacific Power Source AC supply, an N4L PPA5500 series power analyser, software bundle and cables.

“By assembling the racks in-house we can customise the choice of models to create the most suitable combination for each client. This approach will allow us to provide more cost-effective solutions and should be ideal for companies who want to carry out their own in-house testing before submitting their products for certification by 3rd party EMC test labs.”
