Murata Manufacturing has expanded its engineering support in Europe and globally with the opening of an advanced electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test laboratory in Nuremberg, Germany, as it looks to strengthen its position in the fast-evolving automotive electronics market.

The Japan-based components manufacturer said the new facility, which focuses on noise suppression and EMC analysis, will enhance its ability to support customers across the EMEA region. Although not an accredited commercial EMC testing site, the lab provides technical services tailored to Murata’s clients, including the use of its noise filters and decades of expertise in mitigating electromagnetic interference.

The Nuremberg site includes a semi-anechoic chamber designed specifically for automotive applications and can perform a range of tests such as radiated and conducted emissions according to CISPR 25, as well as immunity testing under ISO 11452-4 and ISO 11452-7.

Murata said its EMEA EMC Lab will offer both on-site and off-site support. Engineers can visit customer or third-party facilities to conduct tests, while remote monitoring and simulation services are also available. Clients can additionally use the lab for direct testing and design consultations on EMC suppression.

Daniel Lucas, Field Application Engineer at Murata Europe, said the opening represented “a pivotal moment” for the company’s European operations. “By leveraging advanced analysis techniques and integrating with our global network of EMC facilities, we are empowering our customers to accelerate product development, ensure compliance, and bring reliable innovations to market faster,” he said.

The new lab will form part of Murata’s wider global network of EMC facilities, which includes sites in Japan, China, Taiwan, and the US. The company said the interconnected testing infrastructure would enable it to offer consistent measurement and evaluation capabilities worldwide.

Murata, headquartered in Kyoto and established in 1944, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of electronic components, modules, and devices, including ceramic capacitors, sensors, and EMI suppression filters. The company has offices across Europe, including in Germany, France, Italy, and the UK.
