Aspen Electronics, the Ruislip-based distributor of test equipment, power supplies and specialist RF and Microwave devices, is exhibiting for the first time at Nepcon Electronics this year. The company is showing a range of instruments ideally suited to electronics production and test applications, including power supplies and oscilloscopes.
Taking pride of place on the Aspen stand is the WENS 800 series of hand-held digital oscilloscope meters (DOM) manufactured by WENS Precision. Exclusively available in the UK from Aspen, these instruments feature exceptional ease of use, rugged construction and a range of options, making them especially useful for troubleshooting in circuit design and debug, manufacturing test, installation and quality inspection tasks. They are particularly relevant to the automotive, power systems, machinery, control, aerospace and industrial sectors.

With a bandwidth of 20, 40, 60 or 100MHz, the 2-channel DOM delivers a maximum 200MSamples/s sample rate, with an impressive 2.5GSamples/s repetitive sampling feature and a long 125Kbyte record length. The ‘scopes feature 8bit vertical resolution and offer various acquisition modes including: sample, average, peak detect and envelope. Also included are: a built in high precision, 6000count autoranging digital multimeter; a USB port for easy communication with a PC and a USB memory stick data storage facility.

For more general purpose test bench, troubleshooting and automatic test equipment applications, Aspen offers the GDS-2000 series of Digital Storage Oscilloscopes from GW Instek. Featuring a bandwidth of 60, 100 or 200MHz, these 2 or 4 channel instruments deliver a sample rate of 1GSamples/s and a maximum record length of 25KSamples. The ‘scopes can be programmed to take up to 24 different measurements automatically and results can be displayed on the large 5.6in colour TFT display. A ‘Go/ No Go’ mode is particularly useful in a production set-up. USB host and device interfaces are provided as standard, with GPIB as an option.

Aspen not only offers a wide range of programmable power supplies, but also the expertise to configure a system for customer-specific applications. Let the experts guide you through the choice of programmable voltage/current power supplies and AC & DC sources from 100W to in excess of 150kW, selecting the optimum components for features such as ripple and noise, stability and regulation.

Aspen, founded in 1974, has a wealth of technical expertise and offers full support for its broad product range, including repair and calibration services. The company offers three levels of calibration, from simple operational verification of digital based equipment, through calibration to suit specific customer requirements, up to full calibration in line with BS ISO 10012:2003 with calibration certification and detailed reports.
Its highly experienced technical team, backed by a well-equipped laboratory, can provide technical support covering a number of application areas, and especially in the RF, Microwave, Fibre optics, Telecommunications and Mobile Communications sectors.

The company has established quality control programmes in place, including ISO 9001:2000, and is an approved Ministry of Defence Contractor.
