National Instruments has expanded its low-cost digital multimeter offering with the NI PXI-4065, a new 6½-digit multimeter for PXI. The low cost of the PXI-4065 digital multimeter along with its 6½-digit performance offers a new entry point for reliable, high-channel-count data-logging measurement systems. Engineers can combine the new multimeter with more than 150 available NI PXI switch configurations in the low-cost NI PXI-1033 integrated chassis and controller to create high-channel-count, 6½-digit data-logging systems for £2,500 or €3,600 for up to 48 channels and £7,400 or €11,000 for up to 784 channels. For further system expansion, engineers can add 3,000 channels with each additional 18-slot PXI chassis.
With the NI-DMM driver software that comes with the PXI-4065 digital multimeter, engineers can build high-channel-count data-logging systems in seconds using National Instruments LabVIEW SignalExpress. For automated test systems, NI 4065 digital multimeters are also compatible with NI TestStand, LabVIEW, LabWindows™/CVI and Measurement Studio development environments, offering a variety of options for engineers to programmatically define and control their measurements.

The PXI-4065 digital multimeter uses the same technology as the existing NI PCI-4065 and NI PCIe-4065 digital multimeters, offering 6½-digits of resolution at up to 10 readings per second and up to 3,000 readings per second at lower resolutions. With ±300 VDC/Vrms of isolation, current measurements up to 3 A and 2- or 4-wire resistance measurements, NI 4065 digital multimeters offer a complete solution for basic 6½-digit measurement needs. For higher performance, engineers can configure systems with the existing family of NI 407x FlexDMM devices that deliver measurement speed, accuracy and resolution. Engineers can also integrate the new multimeters with modular power supplies and precision sources from National Instruments to build complete precision DC measurement systems.
