Data-acquisition cards provide market-leading ENOB performance

The new GaGe CS1250X is a range of 12-bit single- and two-channel 500 MS/s digitiser cards with 350 MHz of input analogue bandwidth. Designed for high-speed data-acquisition applications, the new cards provide the highest available ENOB (effective number of bits) performance at high signal frequencies that is available on the market.

The CS1250X family delivers this ENOB performance at high frequency without sacrificing the flexibility of the established GaGe CompuScope signal-conditioning front end. The CS1250X provides six separate input ranges, a choice of AC/DC coupling, user-selectable 70 MHz low-pass filters and user DC offset control.

High fidelity front-end signal conditioning is a core competence of GaGe’s parent company, DynamicSignals Engineering LLC. The design features the low-noise conversion of input single-ended signals to carefully balanced on-board differential signals in addition to innovative clocking distribution and phase alignment.

The system also includes on-board AC and DC calibration reference sources that are used to perform a 7-parameter calibration of the front-end. Without this calibration, the high ENOB performance of the CS1250X would not be possible. The ENOB provided by the CS1250X is over 9.5 at a 200 MHz signal frequency. This is a full 2 ENOBs higher than the performance of other available 12-bit digitisers.

Up to eight CS1250X cards may be configured in a master/slave system for up to 16 simultaneous channels at 500 MS/s.

Software development kits are available for LabVIEW, MATLAB and C/C#.
