IT³ EMV by COMPRION, the leading handset test equipment provider for the (U)SIM interface, has been qualified by EMVCo (owned and operated by American Express, JCB, MasterCard and Visa) as a recognised test platform for payment terminal Contact Level 1 Electrical Type Approval.
With its EMV®* Specifications, EMVCo advances global interoperability and compatibility of chip-based payment cards and acceptance devices. Banking and other payment terminals need to be successfully tested and approved by an EMVCo accredited test laboratory to conform to the EMV Test Specifications. For EMV Contact Level 1 Electrical Testing, the IT³ EMV has been appointed as a qualified Contact Level 1 Electrical Type Approval Test Tool. Besides its primary use for Type Approval, the IT3 EMV card simulator can also help to detect and identify errors and malfunctions during the development phase of the payment terminal. Using the test system in the design and development phase means that shorter testing and approval times of the terminal can be achieved. The tool also offers an integrated digital storage oscilloscope allowing detailed electrical measurements and analysis. The IT³ EMV replaces COMPRION’s former EMVCo test tool, the ACE, which was used for banking terminal Level 1 Electrical Type Approval. COMPRION has used its expertise and long experience with this product for building the new qualified system IT³ EMV. The IT³ EMV is already used by some EMVCo test laboratories for banking terminal Contact Level 1 Electrical Type Approval.
