The SF1020 is small enough (8.5in x 5.4in x 2.5in) and light enough, at 2.75 pounds, to carry in a laptop computer bag. Unlike other small-sized signal generators, the SF1020 provides a stable, accurate 1 GHz output frequency while running on an internal battery, making it the most portable signal generator on the market. The device will operate for three hours on it’s rechargeable battery pack. Other features include three signal outputsRF, digital and differentialmaking it useful for testing clock-driven systems and ICs, in addition to wireless networks and RF communication equipment.
The waveform modulation functions supported are: AM, ASK, BPSK, Chirp, FSK, OOK and Sweep. These features expand the capabilities of the SF1020 beyond a typical signal source and provide the functionality needed for a wide range of digital and RF test applications.
Setup and control is accomplished using the Wave Manager software, a menu-driven application that is installed onboard the SF1020. Wave Manager is configured using a computer connected to the SF1020 via a serial port or USB interface (using an optional adapter). Standard terminal communication software, such as EZ Terminal from Signal Forge or HyperTerminal, may be used to display the Wave Manager application on a PC.
The new portable Signal Forge 1020 Battery Powered Signal Generator is priced at $1395 and is available now.
