Strain gauge can be configured for specific applications

Aptifirst has the LCA20, an intelligent, rugged, field-mounting strain gauge & load cell amplifier for use in weighing and similar operations. It produces both 4 to 20mA and 0 to 10V analogue outputs from any standard strain gauge input. Ease of calibration and setting of the analogue output range make the unit extremely user-friendly.

Set-up is via a simple hand-held or on-board programmer/display. Auto Tare and Peak Hold (if set) on the analogue output are operated via voltage-free contact closures. An on-board display is visible through the optional transparent case lid.

Supplied optionally in a surface mounting IP65 case, or in a DIN-rail mounting IP65 ABS or stainless steel case, or as DIN-rail mounting PCB housings, the LCA20 provides reliable solution for load cell (and other strain gauge device) monitoring, display and system control.

It is equipped for 6-wire strain gauge input, and has a 5V bridge excitation power supply sufficient to power up to ten 350Ω load cells.

The LCA20 is available with a series of options to allow it to be configured to a specific application.

There is an RS232/RS485 communication module supporting MODBUS RTU, ASCII, MANTRABUS1 and MANTRABUS2 protocols, a relay output module allowing two set points to control 4A 240V SPCO contacts, an AC powered option (110–120 VAC & 220-230 VAC) and a DC powered option (9–32 VDC), a choice of on-board or hand-held programmers, and a transparent or an opaque case lid. The new LCA Toolkit software application also allows set-up via a computer, and data-logging and display.
