The new R&S NRP140TWG(N) thermal power sensor from Rohde & Schwarz is designed to meet the growing demands of applications in the F band utilizing a WR 8 waveguide connector.

It is fully traceable to the National Metrology Institute (NMI) in Germany (PTB) and is temperature compensated, ensuring accurate and reliable measurements. With its plug-and-play capability, users can easily connect via USBTMC or LAN digital connectivity, making it an ideal solution for a wide range of applications.

Accuracy is vital to complex wideband measurements. Therefore, the sensors are fully calibrated for long-term stability and can compensate for environmental temperature influences within the specified operating range from 0°C to + 50°C. R&S NRP140TWG(N) sensors have a dynamic range of –35 dBm to +20 dBm and up to 500 measurements per second, making them extremely fast with outstanding performance.

They are the only NMI-traceable RF power sensors for the F band.

Prepared for new upper-band automotive radar and SatCom applications

As the ADAS/AD community collaborates with standardization authorities to define new frequency bands for automotive radar, the R&S NRP140TWG(N) is ready to facilitate safer radar-based ADAS and autonomous driving technologies.

With the increasing exploration of higher frequency bands in satellite communications, the power sensor has already attracted orders from major space companies, underscoring its relevance in this critical industry.

Further, the sensor is essential for RF power measurements in any application utilizing WR 8 waveguide connectors, including T&M instrument level verification, amplifier characterization, device development, and regulatory compliance.

Ease of use

All Rohde & Schwarz NRP power sensors are easy to use and stable with excellent connectivity, letting researchers, developers and production engineers focus on more challenging tasks. The sensors provide stable power readouts even at low power levels, have excellent drift performance and are resilient to external temperature changes or out-of-band signals. They are easy to use thanks to USB or LAN connectivity.

NMI traceability

In collaboration with Germany’s national metrology institute Physikalisch-Technische-Bundesanstalt (PTB) and other European NMIs Rohde & Schwarz was first to establish NMI traceability up to 170 GHz for the R&S NRP170TWG. Now, the new R&S NRP140TWG(N) sensor offers full NMI traceability in the frequency range from 90 GHzfor to 140 GHz. NMI traceability is a prerequisite for commercial and industrial utilization of a frequency band.

The new R&S NRP140TWG(N) thermal power sensors are now available from Rohde & Schwarz
