Spectral sensor IC combines UV-A, UV-B and UV-C

In stock at distributor Mouser Electronics is the AS7331 3-channel UV-A/B/C spectral sensor IC from ams OSRAM.

This three-channel sensor uses interference filters to produce precisely characterised responsivity to radiation in the UV-A (315 nm to 410 nm), UV-B (280 nm to 315 nm) and UV-C (240 nm to 280 nm) wavelength bands.

The filters also provide excellent rejection of interference from ambient visible and near infrared light sources.

By combining UV-A, UV-B and UV-C monitoring in a single device, the AS7331 enables manufacturers to save space and reduce bill-of-materials cost in multi-function applications. For instance, in water purification systems the AS7331 can analyse the quality of the water by measuring the absorption of UV-A light.

It can then measure UV-C radiation to check that a sufficient dose is administered to fully purify the water.

Applications for the AS7331 spectral sensor include UV-disinfection (water, air, surfaces), UV curing, phototherapy, home appliances and horticulture.
