Pressure sensor fits PCBA footprint for barometric applications

Available now from distributor DigiKey is Amphenol Advanced Sensors’ NPB 102 absolute pressure sensor with digital output for low power consumption and applications with a wide operating temperature range.

Digital compensation of the signal offset, sensitivity, and non-linearity is accomplished via a 26-bit internal digital signal processor (DSP) running a correction algorithm.

The calibration coefficients are stored on-chip in highly reliable, nonvolatile, multi-time programmable (MTP) memory.

The sensor is available in two standard pressure ranges with custom pressure ranges available upon request.

Packaged in a QFN configuration, the NPB 102 is intended for surface-mount printed circuit board assemblies. The package contains the pressure-sensing element and the necessary signal-conditioning electronics. The absolute pressure is measured through the port opening on top of the package (near pin 1).

This series provides a cost-effective solution that fits a standard PCBA footprint for barometric applications.

Pressure ranges are 260 mBar to 1,260 mBar and 50 kPa to 200 kPa. Operating temperature range is -40°C to +125°C.

The sensor is packaged in a 4 mm x 4 mm QFN allowing the AVI to detect the solder joint, It is AEC-Q100-qualified. I2C and SPI are available interfaces.

The devices enables ultra-low current consumption in sleep mode

Applications cover thermal runaways infotainment systems, indoor and outdoor navigation, consumer drones, weather forecast, altimeters and barometers for portable devices and enhanced GPS navigation.
